Wanted to share my shell mirror! Love the creams, whites and grays of the shells. I found this at my favorite thrift store and love how it looks on my bookcase. I also found a pair of white curtains, which I modified tofit the opening of my bookcase.

Pink and red seem very French to me. I loved this grey, red and white stripe fabric for a "French" Flora Doora, and wanted pink blooms to fill it. For some reason today I could not find any pretty pink blooms,
so for the first time I substituted silk flowers instead!

French Inspired Finds!

Not too long ago I posted about finding some great coffee table books at my favorite thrift. Yesterday, I
was lucky enough to find two more wonderful books!

The first is a Williams Sonoma book, SAVORING PROVENCE, it's amazingly beautiful with photos and recipes from that region. The second, a small book, simply titled PARIS, need I write more?

My coffee table book pile is growing! The best part was the price of these two books!

$1.60 each!

Just moving a few pieces around to different spots now and then is my favorite Nifty Thrifty way to
decorate. I have moved this antique green bench and it's contents to the front entrance. I love the way it
looks. Just by using everything I already owned, I made some fun changes!

Added my jute rug for more texture!

I also found the curtain panel at my favorite thrift.

A cream linen fabric, for $1.99! I like how it lets the

light in, however, does provide some privacy!

I did find this antique crock at my favorite thrift store awhile ago!

I was thrilled with the $3.99 price!

I have saved many little bits and pieces of memories from vacations, and I wanted a spot where I could display them. So, on a small wall in my bedroom, I have made a memory board. It makes me smile
each time I walk past! I like to call it "organized chaos"!

I covered the boards with the left over fabric from my bench!

Sometimes it's the little things that mean the most!

When I came across this "fifties style" fabric, it reminded me of that tray, so I thought Heather might really like it for her kitchen.

Do you know someone who loves cupcakes, I mean really LOVES cupcakes? My friend Carol loves cupcakes, so much so, in fact, she even went to work in a pretty little cupcake shop! I found this fabric and thought of Carol, so hence the name "Cupcake Carol"!

The fabric is a pretty grey with tiny white polka dots.

There are pink cupcakes with gold sparkles...

blue cupcakes with sparkles....

"Cupcake Carol" looks cute with kitchen utensils too!

It made me think of my first time in Paris, when I saw this little girl on the steps in the Tuileries. It has become one of my favorite photographs. I am sure this little girl is a young woman now, as it was many years ago.

Before Christmas I stopped at my favorite thrift and found this little lamp and shade. It needs a little TLC, however, for $2.99 for the lamp, and $1.99 for the shade I think it will be worth it! I had been searching for a small lamp for quite awhile, so I was happy with this find!

Beach Christmas!

I was really surprised when I stopped into Options Thrift Shop in Naples earlier in the week and found
this French inspired sconce! It is very heavy and painted a pretty grey with gold, and best of all it was
marked 1/2 price.

It reminds me of the one I saw on the Ballard Design website.

Their price $169.00

My sconce was $6.00

Last week I ventured out to my favorite thrift shop and found this heavy glass candle holder for $.99!
I love how it looks on my side table, and I love the swirly shape. I have never seen another one like it.

A day or so later, the new Pottery Barn catalog arrived and I was looking through the Holiday items and this is what I found...

The second one from the left looks very similar to my
candle holder and it's $29.50!

Since I won't be here for next Tuesday, I also wanted to share my bargain bulletin board, which I painted with Chalkboard paint!

For the past few years we have been celebrating Thanksgiving on the beach! The weather is beautiful this time of year, and there is always a breeze. Some years there are lots of people with us, and some years only a few. Some years we have a whole turkey, and some years we celebrate with turkey sandwiches. No matter what it is always a wonderful evening!

I decided to put my huge basket of shells on my coffee table away for the Winter. After adding a pot
with an Orchid, and a glass bottle, I still needed something to fill the large space.

Usually I find many of my accessories at my favorite thrift store, a local estate sale, or Home Goods.
Today I splurged and ordered something from Ballard's Catalog. I could not resist this set of French
inspired wire candle holders for my coffee table. Will show you how they look once they arrive!

At my favorite thrift, as usual, I found this wooden tool box. Not sure how old it is, however, I loved the wood and the handle. For $3.99, how could I resist.

Weekend Fun!

For the past two years, this week in October, my husband and I have been in Paris. Also, for the last two
years at the same time, my friend Helen from NYC, has been in Paris. Each year we got together to
have dinner at a cafe or go sight seeing, and to celebrate Helen's birthday in the city of lights! This year, we did not make it to Paris, so for the first time Helen will be spending her birthday with us here in Naples! We are so happy to have her and are excited to show her around town!

It's not Paris, but it's beautiful as well!

Rainy White Wednesday!

It is raining, raining, raining in Naples! We are into our second straight day of rain, with another one on the way. The house is so dark, it looks like night, even in the morning. I bought some white daisy mums to cheer things up and decided they would be perfect for White Wednesday.

The little bird in the last picture is from Mexico. I purchased him during our cruise, in Cozumel. There was a tiny bird on the ship that seemed to follow us everywhere. One evening he was outside our cabin and he hopped down the hall in front of us! He must have stowed away! This little bird reminded me of him.

Nifty Thrifty Tuesday!

I didn't buy anything at the thrift for this Nifty Thrifty Tuesday, I did, however, fix something

I already owned. I had this plate rack in the garage, just sitting there for two years, not sure if I wanted to use it or not. It was white. I bought a test sample of deep grey paint for $4.00 and painted it, my husband hung it, and now I am feeling both nifty and thrifty today!

Last week, I had the pleasure of spending the day with my friend, Karla, from the beautiful and clever, Remixed Stitches blog. Karla came to Naples to visit and we spent the day hitting thrift stores, and antique malls! It was such a fun day, as Karla is an enthusiastic thrift shopper!

Karla even spotted a couple of things for me which I wanted to share for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday!

One was this cute basket, which Karla thought would look great in my condo!

I just loved the texture, and for now it holds my Waterford decanters! Great price of $1.99

She also found this great wooden ball...for my huge shell tray on my coffee table!

Pink Saturday Cruise!

We just got home from our first cruise, a short one, four days, however, it was wonderful!

On our stop in Key West I noticed this mound of giant

Conch shells and thought immediately of sharing them for Pink Saturday!

On our second stop in Mexico, I saw these beautiful pink bracelets and

definitely wanted to share them for Pink Saturday!

On our last day.... the prettiest sunrise on the way home to Miami!

Remembering Aspen!

I was just sitting and thinking of our recent trip to Colorado, and the beautiful town of Aspen came to mind....and of course the shopping! One favorite spot located on the beautiful pedestrian mall in Aspen, was....

This is the rug our good friends bought for their beautiful log home in

And the beautiful antique Kilim pillows I bought for our condo in Naples!

After shopping, it was fun to stop at the J Bar in the Hotel Jerome.

Now that I am back home, it's wonderful to sit back and remember our trip and enjoy my Kilim pillows!

Sugar and Spice Pink Saturday!

Almost every Friday, I run around trying to find some pink fabric to make a special Flora Doora for Pink Saturday! This week was no different. I had a cute piece of vintage embroidery with a little cat, and

was not sure what to do with it. Several trys and failures later, I ended up with Sugar and Spice Flora Doora. Hope she makes you smile!

This Flora Doora will be donated to aid the Forgotten Animal Shelter in Medina, Ohio. Check out their site to see the good work they do!

Becky, from Maitland, Florida, purchased a plain Flora Doora as a birthday present for herself. This is how she embelished it! She decided to use her house number and hang it on her front door. A very clever idea that I wanted to share with you.

Sunday, at my favorite thrift store, I found these Cafe au Lait bowls. They are marked Luneville, Made In France. I was thrilled, as I have wanted a set for quite some time. I was also thrilled with the price of $2.25 each, and they were new!

White Tablecloths!

This week I made an amazing discovery at my local thrift store. Four tablecloths, two handmade crochet, and two hand embroidered. They were all about the same length of 90 inches. The amazing part, besides
all of the work that went into each one, was the price $2.99 each!

Hand crocheted must be 100 of these roses!

All white, perfect condition!

The second hand crocheted tablecloth is cream and

also in perfect condition!

The last two tablecloths are hand embroidered in golds and browns.

Perfect condition!

I have a feeling they were all done by

the same person for some reason!

Still in shock at the price of $2.99 each!

Pink Saturday at the Elbo Room

The Elbo Room on Ft Lauderdale beach! Made famous by the 1960
movie "Where The Boys Are". It opened in 1938 and had not been
updated since, (except maybe for the pink paint). Pretty much deserted this day, however, I heard it still draws huge crowds.

Loved the old craved wooden bar. The original!

Even the walkway across the street has a "pink" glow.

The city of Ft Lauderdale is celebrating it's 100th Anniversary!

Thrifty Find!

I have been looking for a lamp for my dining area for quite awhile. A few days ago I walked into one of my favorite thrift shops, and there was this heavy metal bamboo floor lamp. I loved the color and style, however, not the shade. I already owned a sale shade I found a couple of years ago from Pottery Barn, so I redonated the shade and purchased the lamp. It was marked $20.00, however, when I got to the check out it seems all lamps were half price, so my thrifty find is my new (used) $10.00 lamp!

The Pottery Barn lamp shade was on sale for $6.99!

I love how it goes with my Fall/Winter rug on the other side of the room!
